Spending time in nature is so good for you. This is something Sarah is very passionate about. She embarked on a monumental course of study and discovery during lockdown and will become a certified forest bathing guide in September 2021.
Forest Bathing is a mindful, multisensory nature immersive experience. It is a health promoting, salutogenic, nature connection practise that aims to enhance wellbeing, relieve stress and encourage relaxation. It is underpinned by mindfulness principles, encouraging: the opening of the senses to the forest atmosphere; slowly walking through the forest; inhaling the forest air; and fostering an emotional connection to the landscape.
Participants were invited to take part in nature connectedness activities while we wandered through the forest. They were asked to bring back something they found. It might be something like a rock that they liked the patterns on or the texture of a leaf - that you found mindfully on the ground.
“Wander for a good ten minutes, really take this time now to notice textures and patterns. I’ll call you back to this space here that is so beautiful. And if you find nothing that's okay, maybe what you find is peace/ something within you, maybe you find a nice shadow” - Sarah
