Tribute to Red Room - Connection 2 - 91.5 x 152 cm

€1,500.00

Attracta has made her own paint from pure pigment

on stretched canvas prepared stretched and primed in Ballyrogan.

We were on location in Brittas Bay, Co. Wicklow. There was a group of filmmakers and I was just amazed, it was done at a time when this group of people were coming towards their final year in college and they were working together - I was intrigued at how professional they were and how dedicated they were to the time management, all of their equipment. It was the whole idea of the beach and the people and the atmosphere and it just came out in the painting. The cameraman. The director and writer of the film, Red Room, is Robert Manson, my son. https://www.robertmanson.ie/

It’s acrylic and oil on canvas - we stretch our own canvas and mix our own acrylic from pure pigment and then overlay it with oil transparencies.

I stretch my own canvas using canvas or linen. Usually in multiples for a series of work.
I work with acrylics and oils. When using Acrylic paint I like to mix the pigment with a carrier solution to determine the intensity of the colour. When working with oils I usually work slowly with multiple layers, adding and subtracting elements to the work. A series of work develops around a central theme, working from my sketches and my photograph research.
